Job Duties: This position is a full-time (40 hours per week 12:30pm - 9:00pm) second shift position, located in the largest on-campus print shop, and the largest State of Wisconsin printing operation. The position is located in the main printing center of UW-Madison, DoIT, Digital Publishing & Printing Services (DPPS) at 30 East Campus Mall, Madison, WI 53715-2609.
This position requires a person who can skillfully operate a variety of complex bindery equipment, including 23 X 35 and 17 x 22 8-plate, right-angle precision folding machines, perforating/scoring machines, table top folders, 20 station collator/folder/stitcher, perfect binding machines, computer programmable paper cutters, and various auxiliary bindery equipment.
This candidate will also work on various bindery tasks such as collating, coil spiral binding, trimming, laminating, mounting, table top folding, padding, kitting and assembly of binder projects, etc. during their shift.
An ideal candidate will be well versed in the principles and terminology of offset printing and bindery work; paper types and weights, and the ways those papers interact with various machines and inks. Must be able to ensure we consistently produce high-quality materials that are precisely finished to exact specifications.
This candidate needs to be able to perform daily maintenance including equipment cleaning, make minor adjustments on assigned production equipment as necessary to maintain and enhance production of quality output in an efficient fashion, and make minor repairs to the extent made possible by additional training. Good mechanical aptitude is necessary. Related skills include set-up for production on the equipment, job prioritizing and sequencing, and machine trouble-shooting and diagnostics.
Good communications and interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be able to work well with other production personnel, customer service, pre-press, and graphic design personnel. Must have skilled experience in use of pagination sheets/job planners, and knowledge of layout and page-sequencing formats and techniques. Must have knowledge of job scheduling methods necessary in order to manage workflow of the position.
Punctuality, self-motivation, and the ability to work well under pressure are mandatory skills. Must be able to understand and effectively carry out very complex and difficult oral and written instructions, and to ask questions if necessary to prevent misunderstanding.
Must be able to use basic functions of a computer-based order entry system and other software applications, and have the ability to enter information into the department's printing management information system on a per job basis that includes all time spent of individual jobs and all materials consumed in the production. _Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds of paper on a regular basis_.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
