Salary:
Starting wage is $11.595 per hour for the entry level (05-08) and $12.531 for the Objective level (05-09), plus an excellent benefits package.
Additionally, employees are eligible for a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty.

The Department of Military Affairs has vacant Military Affairs Security Officer (MASO) positions at the Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), located in Camp Douglas.
The results of this recruitment will be used to staff future MASO vacancies on all shifts at JFHQ and Truax Field (Madison), Volk Field CRTC (Camp Douglas), and Mitchell Field (Milwaukee) for the next 6 to 12 months. This recruitment will also be used to fill any MASO project positions that occur at the same locations.
Qualified veterans with a 30% or more service connected disability are eligible for non-competitive appointment to permanent positions in classified civil service under s. 230.275, WI Stats. Ask the HR contact listed in this announcement for information on how to apply under this provision.
Job Duties: These positions providearmedsecurity
services
to protect property and persons from sabotage, fire, espionage, theft, vandalism, and other hazards; control entry and exit of all personnel,
vehicles
and other equipment at entry points to the National Guard facility or base; assist and direct visitors; enforce parking regulations; ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, rules and laws; prepare and maintain records and documents; monitor alarm systems; and attend training and safety
classes
.

Criminal and driver-s license background checks will be conducted on

finalists prior to selection and a Department of Defense background check will be performed following appointment. Pre-employment physicals, a drug screen, and performance of a fitness/agility test will be conducted on finalists. A valid driver-s license is required upon appointment. Maintaining these qualifications are conditions of continued employment.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of public safety and security concepts, techniques, and strategies for protecting persons and property while monitoring and enforcing activities in a secure environment. Knowledge and skills necessary for emergency response activities to assess incidents, de-escalate situations, secure areas, and gather and report information. Possess the ability to interpret regulations, analyze situations, and provide sound judgments. Well qualified candidates will possess the aforementioned and will have knowledge and skill in the use of firearms for security related activities.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
